Participants use a variety of fabrics, attaching methods, and stuffing to create several soft sculptural forms. During the first weeks of class, students will explore simple two-shape wall hanging designs to learn techniques. The last few weeks of class will be spent making larger floor or tabletop constructions. While there may be sewing involved in an individual project, participants need no prior sewing experience. A list of required supplies will be posted on the CSA website. 

Simple Bookmaking for Beginners

In this class, participants make artists’ books and sketchbooks. Students learn basic paper folding and binding techniques to form the books. Matrix and ink making techniques are also explored, enabling students to add printed material to their creations. Special topics include ways in which to add interesting covers to the books. While instruction focuses on simple books and book forms for beginners, more experienced bookmakers are encouraged to enroll and continue to explore their bookmaking skills. A list of required supplies will be posted on the CSA website. 

Landscape Drawing with Soft Pastels

This class requires no previous drawing experience.  Students receive instruction in various soft pastel techniques related to drawing the landscape on-site. Weather permitting, the class meets in different locations in the Terre Haute area including Dobbs Park, Fairbanks Park, Deming Park and the Wabashiki Trail. Some walking is required. A list of supplies will be posted on the CSA website.
