Beginning Arts Samplers, Full-Day Classes
Arts Samplers provide comprehensive, multi-disciplined experiences in art, music and theater. Designed for beginning to intermediate levels, students need no prior experience. At about $5 per hour, these one-week, all-day classes are a fun, educational and affordable way to learn about the arts!
Students must bring a brown-bag lunch, two snacks and beverages. Classes, lunch and breaks are fully supervised by CSA instructors and staff. Instructors are ISU faculty, ISU graduate arts students and ISU undergraduate arts education majors.
Some camps incorporate physical activity, such as swimming, basketball or yoga. Children can be at beginning, intermediate or advanced levels; each activity offers tiered instruction. All fitness sessions are taught or supervised by licensed sports professionals, instructors and lifeguards, and are designed for children at all fitness levels.
On Fridays, students participate in a final theater performance. In addition, one summer art exhibition is scheduled in the Turman Art Gallery to recognize our young artists. The exhibition dates are July 31-August 8, with a closing reception on August 8, 5:00-6:00 p.m. Family and friends are invited to the events, followed by a reception with cake and punch.
All art supplies and use of instruments and equipment are included in the fee. Parents may drop off children between 7:45-8:15 a.m. and pick them up between 5:00-5:15 p.m. During the day, time is set aside for lunch and snack breaks. Parents and caregivers can drop by anytime during the day. We love visitors!
