Am I eligible to be a Community Gardener?
If you're willing to abide by the Community Garden Contract, then, yes, you are eligible! Garden membership isn't restricted to people associated with ISU, or even people living in Terre Haute.

Garden plots are bordered by wood-chipped paths, which are accessible via most power wheelchairs. Our bathroom facilities are ADA accessible, and we are developing a raised garden bed for better non-motorized wheelchair access in the 2016 garden season. If you have access or other disability issues that you're worried may prevent you from engaging in the garden, contact us to see how we can help.

How much does it cost?
Garden plots are free. Access to tools and water is also provided.

What's the catch?
Because garden plots are free, every season gardeners are expected to contribute 10% of produce they grow and to perform 5 hours of garden service. To whom much is given, much is expected, right?

What else do I have to do?
You can preview our Community Gardener Contract here. All gardeners agree to abide by the contract at the beginning of each season.

How big will my plot be?
We offer plots in sizes ranging from 10x10 to 20x30. Your plot's size depends on your needs and abilities and what we have available each season.

But I've never gardened before.
That's okay! Some of our senior gardeners volunteer to mentor beginning gardeners. If you have questions about how to get started, you can email us, or just wait until gardening season begins and ask the folks who are out planting things.

Do you accept donations of manure, tools, seeds, etc.?
Yes! We're always in need of donations to keep our garden growing. Please contact us to arrange details, and thank you for your generosity.

What about donating my time; how can I volunteer?
Glad you asked! We need volunteers almost year-round to keep the garden running smoothly. Check out our Volunteer FAQ page to learn more.

Ok, I'm sold. How do I sign up?
Great! Click here for an online application. Please note that new gardener applications are considered on a first-come, first-served basis, and that submitting an application is not a guarantee of receiving a plot.
